pineapple story

It is one of the most popular tropical fruits grown in tropical regions worldwide, second only to bananas. It is said to have originated in the tropical regions of the Americas, and is said to have been brought back to Europe by Columbus and spread throughout the world. The origin of the name is that it looks like a pine cone and has a sweet apple-like scent, which is what the words pine and apple represent. What do you think?

Basic knowledge of pineapple ceramide

Seven types of ceramide are known in human skin, but there are many more types with different molecular structures. Glucosylceramide is a ceramide with sugar (glucose) bound to it, and glucosylceramide extracted from plants such as rice, corn, soybeans, and konjac root is called vegetable glucosylceramide. Plant-based ceramides are gaining recognition as hypoallergenic materials that improve the skin's moisturizing properties. We have also focused on pineapple ceramide, a ceramide derived from pineapple fruit, which has been suggested to have melanin-suppressing effects.

Functionality of pineapple ceramide

Pineapple ceramide is an ingredient with excellent skin moisturizing effects and has a structure very similar to the natural ceramide that exists in the stratum corneum on the skin's surface. The stratum corneum of the skin is rich in ceramides, whose role is to inhibit water evaporation from the skin. However, due to aging and external stimuli, ceramide levels decrease, leading to reduced skin moisture retention. Therefore, by using cosmetics containing pineapple ceramide, you can increase the moisturizing power of your skin.

Greetings from the founder

With the recent spread of FOSHU (Foods for Specified Health Uses) and the food with function claims system newly established by the Consumer Affairs Agency, I feel that what people are looking for in their food is not only food that satisfies their hunger and tastes good, but also health and beauty effects. As someone who comes into contact with agricultural products, the number of newly discovered functional ingredients is eye-opening. It was very interesting to discover ingredients related to beauty that we had not even expected from pineapple, a crop that we have a lot of experience eating. I believe that it is appropriate for such research results to be discussed and developed in more forums.

What is Pineapple Ceramide Research Group?

This research group was established to provide a place to publish research results regarding the functionality of pineapple ceramides, as well as to provide information for further research and a place to exchange opinions.
