Study on the Skin Function Improvement Effect Using a Mouse Model of Dry Skin (3)

Skin tissue samples were collected from mice that developed dry skin and from those treated with pineapple ceramide to suppress the onset of dry skin. The results of histological analysis using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining were reported.

In the mice fed with the HD-AD diet, thickening of the stratum corneum was observed. In contrast, mice administered pineapple ceramide showed suppressed keratin thickening.

Hyperkeratosis is known to interfere with normal tissue turnover and is associated with various skin disorders.

Supervisor

President: Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1965, he completed his doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Agricultural Science at Tokyo University of Agriculture (PhD), and served as a special research fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of Agriculture, and an associate professor and professor at Takasaki University of Health and Welfare before becoming a professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture in April 2012. He is a professor at the same graduate school, and will be the president of Tokyo University of Agriculture in April 2021. He will be the chairman of Tokyo University of Agriculture in July 2023.
